The Hubrecht Institute is a research institute of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences. Presently there are 24 research groups with a total of about 350 employees and guest researchers. RESEARCH TECHNICIAN / LABMANAGER
To work on cell division in health and disease

Description of the project
We seek a motivated technician that can assist several cell biology projects on the molecular mechanisms of cell divison in human and mouse cells and organoids. The research focuses on chromosome segregation, and the mechanisms that keep this process operating at high fidelity in healthy cells as well as the defects that cause errors in chromosome segregation in cancers. We use tissue culture and 3D organoid cultures, and various biochemical and microscopy techniques to visualize cell division processes. The candidate is also expected to take on lab management tasks, including reagent ordering and general lab organization. Approximately 25% of the week will be spent on lab management.

Requirements
The candidate has experience with standard molecular and cell culturing techniques, and has excellent organisational skills. The candidate has a HLO diploma and is proficienct in English. Strong social skills, a can-do attitude, and the ability to work in a team are very important as the candidate will interact and collaborate with a several (international) group members.

Duration
1 year with an extension of 3 years after positive evaluation.

Salary
According to “CAO-Nederlandse Universiteiten” (CAO-NU), depending on age and experience scale 7 excluding 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus. We offer an extensive package of fringe benefits.
