The Hubrecht Institute is a research institute of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) with 21 research groups and around 350 employees and guest researchers. In addition to a dynamic and international research climate, the institute offers excellent imaging and functional genomics facilities and uses multiple model systems including C. elegans, zebrafish and mouse. The institute is located in the Utrecht Science Park. The Hubrecht Institute is affiliated with the University Medical Center Utrecht and there are close ties with Utrecht University, in particular within the Research School “Cancer, Stem cells & Developmental biology".

As a result, the institute grew into an internationally renowned research institute and the link with (pre) clinical research was facilitated. The Hubrecht Institute has a partnership with the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) based on shared institutional goals, scientific synergy and complementarity.
